A landscape scene along old route 66 in Quay County, New Mexico with blue sky and dramatic clouds. The photograph shows where the pavement ends and a dirt road begins.

Along old route 66 in Quay County, New Mexico. This road crosses Interstate 40 at exit 369. Like many of rural New Mexico's roads, this road is dirt with paving only near the highway to give the appearance of nicer roads than what really exist in the Land of Enchantment. Photographed in July, 2007 while on my way to Santa Fe with my son at the beginning of his visit this summer.
