Mexico one half mile

Driving north on US 31 in rural Indiana north of Peru, I saw a large arrow pointing down a country road to the east. The sign said: "Mexico 1/2 Mile." Naturally, I had to drive that half mile to see the small town of Mexico, Indiana.

Strangely enough, Miami County has several towns with Hispanic inspired names: Chili, Mexico, Peru, and Santa Fe. I plan to visit the others soon. Peru is a fairly large town, the county seat, while the others are said to be quite small, as is Mexico.
